The Fifth Innings
The 2016 Marlborough vintage delivered some good solid weather during the ripening period where warm sunny days were followed by cool nights. This unique combination of climate, soils and terrain is what makes the region stand out on the world stage and it is best highlighted with the Fifth Innings.
The vintage resulted in ripe Chardonnay bunches with nice berries and good skin to juice ratio, resulting in great colour and flavour for the wine.
Aged in new French barrique the wine is instantly appealing with impressive complex notes on the nose showing ripe nectarine, mango, vanilla and toasted almond characters.
The palate is not for the faint-hearted; concentrated and elegant at the same time, offering massive flavour brilliantly enhanced by silky texture and deep buttery undertones. A fine wine that will leave a lasting impression.
