It’s been a pretty glorious month for us at Misty. We have had a few surprises, in the form of medals and trophies. Some time ago, we acquired a little block with some Gruner Veltliner grapes on it, and in the spirit of adventure we thought: why not? We have always been a big fan of the Austrian varietal, but never thought we would have the opportunity to produce something like a Gruner. Let alone an award winning one. But here we are today, and with 93+ review from Wine Orbit, a Gold Medal from the NZ Wine Awards, followed up by a Trophy from WOTY for the best Other White Wine category, and it just goes to show you that you never know where this winemaking journey will take you.
We were also super stoked to take home the Dish Magazine Trophy for Champion Pinot Gris. Probably a foodies dream, the Pinot Gris is one of the most versatile wine to match with food, so this was a huge honour.
We feel humbled and honoured. Thanks so much to the NZ Wine of the Year Awards, Dish Magazine, and the incredible Misty Cove Wines crew for all your hard work and love.
